In the 1950s, St. Paul's Hospital in Livermore proved too small for the communities of Livermore and Pleasanton. People grew weary of traveling to Oakland for health care, so local residents united and raised enough money, along with federal grants, to build Valley Memorial Hospital on land donated by Kaiser Paving Company in Livermore. Valley Memorial opened its doors in September 1961 with 46 beds and a medical staff of 23. - As the Tri-Valley community grew, so did ValleyCare Health System, and in 1991 ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton opened. Today, ValleyCare has a total of 242 beds and a medical staff of over 300, offering you a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services that are at a world-class level. Our facilities have expanded to include new and remodeled buildings in both Pleasanton and Livermore.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Ambrose D. Regalia Post 6298 is a non-profit organization. The post was established in March of 1946 and named after Ambrose D. Regalia (the first Pleasanton soldier to die in World War II). The post currently has over 180 members and is very active and supports various veterans programs, homecomings, scouting, and the community.
