Pirates at Dodgers
The Dodgers took on the Pirates down at the Sports Park this past Saturday morning. The rematch of these two teams went back and forth right to the end, with both teams making some big plays.
Logan Seitz led the charge for the Dodgers. He batted 3-4 at the plate with 2 RBIs for the home team and pitched a scoreless 4th inning, while striking out one. JT Fulmer’s bat continued to stay hot as he went 4-4 with a double, while scoring 2 runs from the leadoff spot. Aidan McCarthy chipped in with 2 hits, racing to 1st base in the 3rd to beat out an infield single. That hustle led to an important run later in the inning.
Aidan Dougherty was great behind the plate. His solid catching played a big part in Logan’s scoreless 4th. Ryan Haley had his fastball working today, pitching a great 5th inning to close the game, striking out two in the process.
The Pirates were lead by Evan Thomas and Nate McGinty. Their big bats and great fielding make them an imposing duo. At 2nd base, Nate finished the unassisted double-play off of a line drive and then ran down the runner at 1st. Evan covered a lot of ground in the outfield, running down the ball and nearly pulling in a running backhanded catch. Great work from the Pirates!

Pirates at Dodgers
The Dodgers faced the Pirates Saturday where defense was the game for the first two innings as both teams kept their opponent from scoring. But the Dodgers' bats came alive in the bottom of the third when Jake Massie's line drive triple brought a walked Logan Miller home for the first score and began the team's rally. Nick Massie followed with a single bringing his brother home. Victor Alonzo and Ari Solomon also singled while Brady Bosuego hit a one-run single. Zach Friedman began another ralley in the fourth with a single and later, a one-run single by Vincent McMasters brought home a walked Kellen Sabhlok. In the fifth, it was Tyler Nanney's high-flying hit to center field earning him a double that brought fans to their feet. Defensively it was all about pitching. McMasters, Miller, Solomon, Nicholas Maestas and Nanney each struck out the side in the first five innings respectively. Alonzo closed out the game throwing two strike outs, with the third made by catcher Jake Massie's throw to third baseman McMasters to beat a steal.
